Most people think the hard part of outbound is finding leads.

Wrong. The real pain is knowing who’s worth your time once you’ve got them.

Every site visitor looks shiny in analytics until you realize half of them are students, freelancers, or someone’s grandma who clicked the wrong ad.

You need to separate “browsers” from “buyers.”

And that’s where AI qualification comes in.

Instead of dumping every de-anonymized company into your CRM, you make the AI think like your best SDR: ruthless, pattern-obsessed, allergic to unqualified junk.

With a good prompt, it will look at a single line (We build logistics software for mid-market retailers) and instantly tell you whether this is ICP.

Before using it, know your ICP:

If your answer to “who can pay me?” is “tech companies,” then you’ve already lost.

AI doesn’t guess what you meant. You need to feed it clarity.

Ask yourself these five questions. Please answer them honestly, or the prompt will just give you pretty JSON lies:

  1. What industries are proven to convert or renew with you?
  2. What job titles actually swipe the card (not the ones who just take your demo)?
  3. What company sizes do you close fastest (10-person team ≠ enterprise deal)?
  4. What problems do they describe in their own words that trigger your solution?
  5. What keywords always appear in good leads (tech stack, region, regulation, etc.)?

Once you’ve nailed that, you can customize the prompt below in less than 2 minutes and suddenly your lead list starts making sense.

Copy-Paste Prompt (plug-and-play for Clay or any AI column):
